Child Protection Policy

Zero Tolerance Policy for Child Abuse, Exploitation, and Child Labor | Adopted by Board of Directors

1. Fundamental Safeguarding Commitment

Disha Vihar believes that every child, regardless of gender, caste, religion, or economic background, has an equal right to protection, dignity, education, and freedom from violence. We enforce a mandatory Zero Tolerance Policy against child labor, corporal punishment, child sexual exploitation, and child marriage across all operational areas.

2. Key Policy Principles

Best Interests of the Child

The safety, emotional security, and welfare of the child is the paramount consideration in every intervention.

Child Advisory Committees

Forming village-level child forums so children actively participate in identifying and reporting protection concerns.

Informed Media Consent

Strict protocols ensuring photographs and stories are published only with written parental/guardian consent.

Staff Code of Conduct

Mandatory background checks and signed Child Safeguarding commitments for all staff and volunteers.

3. Reporting & Action Protocol

Any suspected violation or safeguarding concern reported to Disha Vihar triggers an immediate multi-tiered response:

Immediate referral to District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and Childline (1098)
Emergency protective care and legal aid support for vulnerable children
Internal investigation led by the Secretary and Child Protection Officer within 48 hours
Complete confidentiality maintained for the reporting individual and child victim
